Emerging arbovirus:
Transmission dynamics &
Virus-host interactions

What we do
Our lab works on understanding transmission dynamics and virus-host interactions of arboviruses that cause human diseases. We use a transdisciplinary approach that combines virology, immunology, genomics, and epidemiology to prevent, mitigate, and control arbovirus outbreaks and epidemics. We are also dedicated to training current and future arbovirus researchers
Our mission

“We generate knowledge and tools that contribute to inform and improve public health outcomes and reduce inequalities in populations affected by arboviruses”
William M. De Souza, PhD
We are part of the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics in the College of Medicine at the University of Kentucky
